So why after many years of travel have we decided to start a blog?
Reason 1: Share the love… and the travel advice
When we first started travelling, there was no internet… imagine that! No email, no social media, no instant news, no blogs, no online weather, no free travel guides, no currency converters, no interactive maps, no translation tools or language learning apps, no booking sites or instant travel advice in the palm of your hand.
We call those years BTI – Before The Internet! World travel had its different challenges then, but now with these new tools at our fingertips, travel has certainly become a whole lot easier.
Our travel style has evolved over time, and now we use all of the above tools to our benefit. One of the greatest benefits has been the invaluable information passed on from the many travel bloggers out there, who have passed on current news from the road, and all kinds of tips and advice that have helped us immensely with travel planning and during moments of uncertainty on the road.
So we want to share the love, and give back to the travel community by way of updated advice and useful travel tips from the road. We know the sort of information we require and are happy to pass it on to others.
Reason 2: Inspiration
This is an easy one. We remember back to hearing those first travel stories that inspired us to pick up a backpack and book that ticket… and the many amazing people we’ve met since then who have filled our minds with tales of far-flung lands and exotic climes. If we can help inspire you to pull on that backpack and go and see this wonderful world for yourself, then we would be helping to carry on the glorious tradition of travel inspiration.
It’s always a bit daunting to take that first step and go travelling but if you see how simple it now is to organise your own flights and accommodation and get from A to B by using free online resources, then we’ll feel we’ve helped someone explore this beautiful world of ours
Reason 3: Guilt… pure and simple
We’ve had family and friends ask us to get a blog started to share our experiences and to give them an insight into our travel lifestyle. We’ve been promising them for a long time now so we hope this lives up to their expectations!
