As you can see, we decided to pay the fees and keep the Frugal Travellers website up & running!
The main reason is that as I was reading through our blog posts one last time back in March, I actually really enjoyed them! I especially loved re-reading our story on our About Us page!
It seemed a shame to lose all that hard work, so we decided to renew for at least another 3 years! 😃
Will we be writing more blog posts?
We much prefer making videos for our Frugal Travellers YouTube channel, but there is something satisfying in reading a blog post.
That makes total sense to me as I am a inveterate bookworm, who always checks a travel guidebook or travel blog first, before watching a travel video.
So, does this mean we’ll actually start writing more posts to complement our videos?
If they’re as simple as this post is going to be, with no fancy SEO and only 1 or 2 photos, then it does seem more appealing.
What we struggle with is all of the contrived mechanics of running our own website and following the SEO rules:
- keeping sentences short
- making sure we had the keyword in the first paragraph
- being careful not to use the passive voice too often (we didn’t even know what the blimmin’ passive voice was until we started this blog!)
- having supposedly fun widgets and effects that we’d spend hours trying to install
The main goal for us is to share Frugal Travel tips and advice with fellow travellers.
Our aim is to help others who want to travel, but who are worried about the logistics and/or are on a tight budget!
It would be great to get feedback from our subscribers:
- to know what brought you to our website and YouTube channel
- the type of information you are looking for that our videos and posts could help you with
It is always wonderful to hear from you! Please feel free to comment, and share with your friends 🙂

So glad you decided to continue posting. I have enjoyed reading all your posts even though I have not been able to travel to any of the exotic places that you do.
Stay free and enjoy!
Thank you for your lovely comment, Edna! We will try to write more blog posts, but are really enjoying making travel videos for our Frugal Travellers YouTube channel! Let us know if you’ve seen any of them, and if you enjoyed them 🙂 – Mandy
Enjoyed your stories… Thanks! I was an avid frugal traveller in my younger days, still traveling and sharing the travel bug with my daughter. If you’re ever in Washington DC, you’re most welcome to stay with us. We’d couch surf back in the 80s to keep costs down.
It would be a great shame to lose all that’s in this website. I say flag the “should dos”. You’re active enough on social media and your YouTube channel that people will find your website anyway, and they’ll thoroughly enjoy poking around, looking at the photos and reading the stories of your travels — and the great advice! Keep it simple and do what you enjoy — sharing your travels and helping others explore the incredible variety of this world.
Glad to see the site is staying. Your blog about Gobekli Tepe was my inspiration to visit last year and without your tips I don’t think I’d have made the leap to travel there independently so thank you! I’ve seen some of the Youtube videos but often it’s easier to read text if you’re in an environment where it’s not easy/possible to play videos.
Hi Andy. So glad to hear that our Gobekli Tepe blog inspired you to go there and we really hope that you enjoyed the experience as much as we did. We know what you mean and we often refer to written blogs over video for research when we are on the road. Thanks for taking time to write and happy travels to you.
So glad that you’re keeping the blog – there is some great stuff on here 🙂
That’s so lovely, thank you, Alex! We need to get back into writing blog posts… your great website has inspired us 😃😁
